Billy C Boxing Contest - 17/1/2014

For TBCB's latest entry in the Boxing With Billy C fight predictions contest, we've simmed the fights listed below 100 times each. We've offered a brief summary of each fight based on the simulations, or you can read the entire summary of all the fights, which includes a lot of in-depth detail.

  • Fernando Lumacad vs. Horacio Garcia: Garcia won 75 of the simulated bouts, so he won’t have difficulty beating Lumacad. With 40 wins by decision (35 unanimous) and 35 by stoppage (14 KOs, 21 TKOs), he may or may not have to go the distance, but if the 90 knockdowns he scored are any indication, compared to just 9 for Lumacad, he might end this one early. His wins by stoppage were an average of 6.0 rounds each.
  • Eleider Alvarez vs. Andrew Gardiner: Look for Alvarez to win this one easily, given his 78 simulated wins. His victories were weighted toward decisions, with 47 of those (40 unanimous), compared to 31 stoppages (9 KOs, 22 TKOs). That resulted in an average of 10.47 rounds per win, so expect this one to end in a decision.
  • Antoine Douglas vs. Marquis Davis: Douglas will have no trouble stopping Davis and will likely do so early: Of his 79 wins, 45 were by stoppage (15 KOs, 30 TKOs), for an average of 8.94 rounds per win. His stoppage wins were an average of 6.67 rounds each.
  • Ismaikel (Mike) Perez vs. Carlos Takam: Perez will win convincingly: He won 88 of the 100 fights, 49 of them by decision (44 unanimous) and 39 by stoppage (22 KOs, 17 TKOs). Perez needed an average of 9.44 rounds per win, though, so fans will likely get their money’s worth.
  • John Thompson vs. Frank Galarza: Thompson has the edge, with 63 simulated victories, but with an average of 11.16 rounds needed for each one, and 47 decisions vs. 16 stoppages (5 KOs, 11 TKOs), he will almost certainly need to go all the way to defeat Galarza. Just 26 of his decisions were unanimous, with 10 split decision and 11 majority decision wins, so look for the judges to have differing opinions in the end.
  • Abel Ramos vs. Maurice Hooker: Hooker won 63 of the fights, with 37 decisions (28 unanimous) and 26 stoppages (12 KOs, 14 TKOs), so he should take the victory, but it won’t be easy.
  • Marco Demecillo vs. David Sanchez: Demecillo has the edge with 59 victories, 34 by decision (25 unanimous) and 25 by stoppage (8 KOs, 17 TKOs), but Sanchez managed more KOs (10 of them among his 20 stoppage wins), with an average of 5.0 rounds for each KO win, so could be pull off a win in the middle rounds? Demecillo’s knockdown edge also isn’t huge: 93 for him vs. 54 for Sanchez.
  • Jean Pascal vs. Lucian Bute: Like Demecillo, Bute scored 59 victories during his sims, but his wins were weighted heavily toward decisions, with 46 of those (39 unanimous) vs. 13 stoppages (5 KOs, 8 TKOs). That led to his 11.22 average rounds per win and a very high likelihood that he will have to fight until the end and rely on the judges.
  • Ivan Redkach vs. Tony Luis: Redkach was our most dominant fighter this week, with 81 wins, 44 by decision (36 unanimous) and 37 by stoppage (13 KOs, 24 TKOs). He went an average of 9.26 rounds for each victory and relied on a heavy mix of hooks, crosses, and combinations to defeat Luis.
