Billy C Boxing Contest - 9/1/2014

For TBCB's latest entry in the Boxing With Billy C fight predictions contest, we've simmed the fights listed below 100 times each. We've offered a brief summary of each fight based on the simulations, or you can read the entire summary of all the fights, which includes a lot of in-depth detail.

  • Humberto Mauro Gutierrez vs. Abner Lopez: Gutierrez shouldn’t have any trouble dispatching Lopez, having won 56 of the simulated fights. Look for him to do so via decision, since he did so 37 times (29 unanimous).
  • Jas Phipps vs. Eduardo Alicea: With 92 wins out of 100 fights, and no draws, Alicea will decimate Phipps. While his stoppages only required 6.77 rounds on average for a win, he only did that 31 times (9 KOs, 22 TKOs), so with 61 decisions (56 unanimous), look for this one to go the distance.
  • Antonio DeMarco vs. Jesus Gurrola: This will be another one-sided fight, since DeMarco took 91 of the fights and there were no draws here either, but his stoppages-to-decisions ratio was nearly flipped from Alicea’s: He won 55 times via stoppage (18 KOs, 37 TKOs), compared to 36 decisions (34 unanimous), so Gurrola likely won’t be able to hang with him.
  • Sofiane Takoucht vs. Alex Miskirtchian: Takoucht should win this one, since he took 58 of the bouts, but he’s expected to go the distance, since he did so 39 times, with 29 unanimous decisions. Miskirtchian’s 35 wins were nearly split between decisions (18, 9 unanimous) and stoppages (17, 1 KO and 16 TKOs), and given the way those break down, he won’t have a clear-cut path to victory.
  • Lanardo Tyner vs. Angel Hernandez: Hernandez won 49 times, compared to Tyner’s 39 victories, with 12 draws, so this one will be close and will likely go the distance. Hernandez’s average rounds per win were 11.08, compared to Tyner’s 10.79, and both fighters’ victories favored decisions (27 for Tyner (16 unanimous) and 37 for Hernandez (28 unanimous)), so look for the judges to decide this one.
  • Lateef Kayode vs. Jonte Willis: Kayode will cruise to victory, since he took 84 of the 100 simulated fights, with 40 decisions (33 unanimous) and 44 stoppages (19 KOs, 25 TKOs).
  • Zahir Raheem vs. Bayan Jargal: This won’t be as one-sided as some of the other fights this week, but Raheem won 80 times (57 decisions (50 unanimous), 23 stoppages (6 KOs, 17 TKOs), so he should have no problem earning a victory.
  • Juan Antonio Rodriguez vs. Yenifel Vicente: Rodriguez won 54 of the fights, compared to Vicente’s 42 victories, but we expect him to have to go the distance, since he did so 33 times (but with 30 unanimous decisions). Of his 21 wins by stoppage, 6 were KOs and 15 were TKOs. However, Vicente scored 60 knockdowns during the 100 fights, compared to Rodriguez’s 38 knockdowns, and he won twice due to three knockdowns, so he could forge a path to victory that way.
